Erdogan: Türkiye is making multifaceted diplomatic efforts to restore ceasefire in Gaza
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced Turkey’s multi-faceted diplomatic efforts to end the ongoing conflict in Gaza and stop the genocide. At an iftar party in Istanbul on Saturday (March 22), he said Ankara would intensify these efforts ahead of Eid al-Fitr. Erdogan said countries that claim to teach the world a lesson by talking about human rights and freedom have not yet reacted to the “brutal killing of children lying in cradles” in Gaza. The Western world in particular is indifferent to the barbarity in Gaza.
He also said that Gaza and Palestine are a painful example of how those who talk about rights and law divide people on the basis of skin color and religion. When the identities of the oppressed and the oppressor change, the language also changes. Reiterating Turkey’s position on the Palestinian issue, Erdogan expressed hope that “this dark day of oppression” in Gaza, like in Syria, will end.
